Durante i miei anni universitari ho avuto amici di culture e paesi diversi sia dentro che fuori la scuola, ma ho iniziato a fare ricerca su progetti Europei subito dopo essermi laureata, perché non potevo partecipare al programma Erasmus all’Univesità. Oltre all’alto impatto dei miei studi di Lingua e Letteratura italiana all’università del mio paese, la mia passione per le altre culture e le vite fuori dal mio paese mi hanno portata fino a questo punto. Sebbene ritenga che l’istruzione scolastica ei suoi contributi siano molto importanti, mi sono sempre sentita più vicino al sistema di educazione non formale, che è un modello di apprendimento permanente che credo abbia effetti a lungo termine. L’obiettivo principale del nostro progetto è promuovere la partecipazione attiva dei giovani, aiutandoli a diventare agenti di cambiamento positivo nella società. Poiché il mio obiettivo principale era migliorare me stesso nelle aree menzionate, stavo cercando alcuni progetti ESC (Corpo Europeo di Solidarietà) che fondamentalmente si basano sulla creazione di opportunità per i giovani di fare volontariato o lavorare in progetti nel proprio paese o all’estero.
Personalmente, credo che sebbene abbiamo background molto diversi e proveniamo da paesi diversi, abbiamo problemi e ideali comuni che possono riunirci attorno agli stessi obiettivi. Con questi tipi di progetto e anche specialmente con questo progetto, mi auguro che saremo in grado di acquisire nuove competenze e creare spazio per condividere le migliori pratiche con la solidarietà. Miro anche a migliorare il mio apprendimento delle lingue straniere e ad imparare a usare le mie capacità in modo più efficace, avendo la possibilità di conoscere una cultura a cui sono stata estranea prima. Sono molto impaziente di conoscere le persone di questo posto che ci hanno già accolto molto calorosamente.

Firstly, I am writing this article from my new home, thousands of kilometers from my country. I will live in my new home in Italy for the next 10 months, and although it is not possible to fully describe my feelings it is all about the excitement and curiosity for this new life in this warm and little town. As someone who has never left her country before, no matter what happens, I know that at the end of these ten months, as a completely different person, I will return home with very good memories in my pocket. Although we are only on the third day of the 14-day quarantine, I look forward to the day we will spend in the office.
My name is Sumeyye and I’’m 24 years old, coming from very big and famous city which maybe you heard about before, Istanbul, Turkey. I would like to say that I am so happy for being one of the first volunteers in our NGOs first volunteering project. Also, this is the first long-term erasmus+ project for me too! I have finally reached Orta Nova, which I have been waiting for almost four months with enthusiasm.
During my university years, I had friends from different cultures and countries both inside and outside the school, but I started to research Erasmus + projects immediately after I have graduated because I could not participate in the Erasmus program within the school. In addition to the high impact of my study of Italian Language and Literature at the university in my own country, my passion for other cultures and lives outside of my own country has dragged me to this point. Although I think that school education and its contributions are very important, I have always felt closer to the non-formal education system, which is a lifelong learning model that I believe has long-term effects. Our project’s main aim is promoting the active participation of young people, supporting them to become agents of positive change in the society . Since my main aim was to improve myself ın the mentıoned areas, I was looking for some ESC, European Solidarity Corps projects which is basically based on the creating opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad.
I, personally, believe that although we have very different backgrounds and come from different countries, we have common problems and ideals that can gather us around the same goals. With this kind of project and also specially with this project, I wish we’ll be able to gain new skills and create space for sharing best practices with solidarity. I also aim to both improve my foreign language learning and learn how to use my skills more effectively, while having the chance to get to know a culture that I have been foreign to before. I am very impatient to get to know the people of this place who have already welcomed us very warmly.
